Light and Shadow


Athens, 1960
On the way back from Skiathos, I spent a few days in Athens. Of course I had to go up to the Acropolis. I wondered how many tens of thousands of feet had polished these rocks.The heavy shadows on the foreground
made this view special for me.
Auf dem Rückweg von Skiathos verbrachte ich einige Tage in Athen. Natürlich musste ich auch hinauf zur Akropolis. Ich fragte mich, wie viele abertausend Füße diese Felsen schon betreten und abgeschliffen hatten.
Mit den tiefen Schatten im Vordergrund bot sich mir ein außergewöhnlicher Anblick.
