Acclaimed Photographer and Cinematographer
Wolfgang Suschitzky was an internationally acclaimed, Austrian-born photographer and cinematographer. He was a probably best known for is work with Paul Rotha and for his work in the film Get Carter. He was a major figure in the British film & photography movement in the 1930s and 40s and he had the amazing ability to creative an incredible atmosphere out of seemingly normal and natural settings. Photographically, he is probably best known for atmosphereic images and photos of London.
wolf suschitzky photos presents a retrospective of 70 years photography with more than 160 pictures on 200 pages. The introduction An Optimist in Life by Erich Lessing, the well known Magnum photographer and friend of Wolf, is followed by an essay from Anna Auer, President of the European Society of the History of Photography and the article Wolf Suschitzky in Vienna and London: Photographic Exchange and Continuity by Duncan Forbes, curator of Scottish National Photography Collection, Edinburgh. Also included is a very short autobiography of a long lived photographer.
